"Drowsy Chaperone" terrific

PEORIA -- Wow! The Peoria Civic Center has scored another fun musical with the Drowsy Chaperone, which opened Feb. 24 and runs through Feb. 25.

This was a big Broadway hit that won a half-dozen Tony awards in 2006.

The Peoria version, a traveling company, seems to have arrived straight from Broadway with all the elements of a good musical: fine performers, lavish sets and costumes, and clever, amusing songs and dialogue.

It's a non-stop comedy that strikes just the right tone. Catch it before it leaves town.
