David Simon, former Baltimore Sun reporter and creator of the HBO's series The Wire,
testified before Congress on Wednesday about what really went wrong with US newspapers.
It's a great statement, brought to us from that great program Democracy Now. Worth reading or hearing.

Comment by Ed Dentino: The David Simon viewpoint was excellent. He makes a strong case for the role of citizen's shared interests (government). Surprising how many believe they are self made, well off. Without the programs, information, research, and legislation of various agencies and governments, few of those characters would thrive.
Probably, regional news and ads will be the ongoing domain of print papers for a pretty long time. Most of us have a strong curiosity about what happens in the region affecting our daily routines.
