Interesting events in Peoria

PEORIA -- Here are two very interesting, free events coming soon:

1. 5 p.m.-9: 30 p.m. Wed. Oct. 7 at the Red Cross Building, 311 W. John Gwynn Jr., Ave: The America Red Cross is holding a program on International Humanitarian Law,

Among the topics: prisoners at Guantanamo, Israeli-Palestinian tensions, the war in Afghanistan. Contact the Red Cross at (309) 677-7272, ext. 204 for more information.

2. 7 p.m., Oct. 19, Bradley University's Neumiller Lecture Hall: Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center. This group has taken on the KKK and other hate groups.

A map of hate groups on the website shows 23 in Illinois.
