PEORIA -- Here are a few under-publicized events taking place on Oct. 20-21.
Anne Garrels, senior foreign correspondent for National Public Radio, will deliver the Robison Lecture at Bradley University tonight, Oct. 20, at 8pm in Neumiller Lecture Hall in Bradley Hall. The title of the lecture is "Bearing Witness ... One Journalist’s View on Covering the World." It is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the atrium of the Michel Student Center.
A film on education, "Race to Nowhere," has been released and reportedly counters the propaganda film "Waiting for Superman."
According to a news release, it focuses on the effects of mounting pressures as students increasingly are told their futures depend on perfection in all respects.
It's showing at Peoria Theater, 3225 N. Dries Lane, at Forrest Hill, on Oct. 20 and 21, at 2 p.m., 3:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
