Listed below are links to weblogs that reference District 150 Board suppressing public comment:

Comments

Tonight when I heard that the newest board member presented his strong belief that District 150 should go to year round school, I realized that this board member was not aware that the same discussion occurred not that long ago. At that time Jim Stowell lamented how much learning is set back because of the 3-month summer hiatus. At that time some of us lamented that summer school, which once filled that void, had been scaled down and finally was completely scraped by this administration. Also, we called attention to the fact that Manual students (because of the Johns Hopkins block schedule) go a whole semester and a summer without English and math, etc., since all core academic subjects are for only one semester.
Consequently, I have come to another sad realization. New board members more often than not come to their new position with absolutely no knowledge of what has happened around that horeshoe before they took office. Undoubtedly, since meetings are no longer televised, potential new board members have no way of preparing themselves for the position by observing what goes on at meetings. At least, in the years that I have been coming to meetings regularly, I don't recall seeing any of the more recent additions to the board in regular attendance at board meetings. Sadly, we have a majority of board members and administrators who have no background knowledge of District 150's past--no wonder they are so blindly fumbling their way into the future.
