PEORIA, IL -- Students in a Peoria high school have come up with a plan, sort of, for Peoria Stadium. It won't work.
In the digital age, why build a store? Who will buy the stuff there when WalMart is cheaper? And a sign with advertising? Nooo.
No rezoning of this space. It's a risk, as the neighbor say. Soon WalMart might want it, again.
A six lane track? It needs to be eight lanes, an expert told me. A lacrosse field, yes that's hot, as is soccer. Keep them in the mix. And cricket is OK.
So the Stadium itself needs $6 million for renovation? The store and the sign won't generate that. They will be money losers. How about naming rights? Or other corporate sponsorship?
I guess it's back to the drawing board for the Stadium.
