PEORIA, IL -- From a news release:
INDIVISIBLE PROTEST OF CONGRESSIONAL TAX REFORM BILLS on DECEMBER 4
Indivisible Peoria Area ( IL.) will hold a rally in protest of the proposed Congressional tax ‘reform’ bills at noon on Monday, December 4, outside the federal courthouse at 100 NE Monroe (corner of Main St. and Monroe) in Peoria, IL. This is one of six protests statewide through Illinois on this date, with others scheduled for Carbondale, Champaign, Chicago, O’Fallon, and Springfield.
The event is part of the national and statewide Indivisible protest of the passage by the Senate of the GOP tax reform bill by vote late Friday, sending the bill to the House for consolidation and compromise. Both the Senate and House bills raise taxes on the middle class, implement massive tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy and will add over one trillion dollars to the deficit.
Indivisible is a national and statewide grassroots movement aimed at resisting the implementation of the Trump agenda and working for progressive government and for active and effective participation in local and national government by citizens.
This rally follows a protest one week ago that focused on putting pressure on Senators to vote against the Senate bill.
